Snow and wellness, Bormio is the only alpine resort that offers skiing and Spa 12 months a year.
The location of Alta Valtellina area (1000m-3400m) guarantees snow during all the year: from may to November at Stelvio, the most important European summer ski area, from December to April in Bormio, Livigno, Santa Caterina, San Colombano. These four ski areas offer the longest slopes in the Alps. Pista Stelvio in Bormio is long 8km with vertical drop about 1800m (3000m at Vallecetta to 1225m in Bormio).
Alta Valtellina ski area offers 82 lift facilities (cableways, ski-lifts, chair-lifts) with capacity of about 90000 people per hour, 220km of downhill slopes, 80km of cross-country circuits, 2 snow parks for snowboard and skipass valid also in San Moritz and Engadina.
Site of many international sport events, in 2005 Alta Valtellina gave hospitality to the World Alpine Skiing championships. Of all the ski runs, the most elated is the Stelvio slope in Bormio, theatre every year at the end of December of the men's down hill world cup competition.
